Glimpses of Rajasthan Film Festival 2016

Like every year, 2016 too saw the advent of the fourth annual Rajasthan Film Festival at Maan Palace, Vaishali Nagar, Jaipur. This year’s Chief Guest was the splendidly talented and renowned poet, lyricist and screenwriter, Javed Akhtar who enlightened the gathering with his precious pearls of wisdom. The show was hosted by famous Bollywood actor Aman Verma and R.J. Mohit.
The show was embarked upon through the melodious voice of the treasured Coke Studio singer, Bhanwari Devi. Following her, various artisans, dancers and showmen kept rendered the audience speechless with their mind-blowing performances. The gala had five thousand attendees, amongst whom trophies were awarded to artists from the Rajasthani film industry in nineteen categories.
The ultimate aim of this celebration is to give due recognition and appreciation to all the people who have made immense and vital contributions towards Rajasthan’s cinematic field. The jury for the year consisted of Vicky Ranawat, Vishwamohan Bhatt, and Indrajeet Bansal. The award show was also broadcast on television on ETV Rajasthan channel.
2016’s Lifetime Achievement Award was handed to the illustrious poet, writer and singer Ikram Rajasthani for his contribution towards the development and evolution of Rajasthani cinema. He has given a Rajasthani translation to historical books like The Quran, Geetanjali and Madhushala. Apart from this, he lends his voice to commentating at the Red Fort as well as Rashtrapati Bhavan.
